OVERVIEW Of Lumory
In this project, we are telling a story through the form of the product.
Through practiced perception, we can improve the shape and feel of products, imbuing them with meaning beyond their physical boundaries.
I chose the printer as the theme and will extract the details and lines in different ways to create a new look for the printer that is story-telling and also convincing.
The design process will be full of challenges and unusual exploration. These include one-on-one interviews, photo shoots, poetry, painting, and other creative processes to provide a fascinating story for the final form.
PROCESS - PAIN POINT FINDING
BORING SHAPES
Through benchmark research, we can see that most photo printer in the market is just boring cube.
Of course, we know the costs, risks, and uncertainties that a brand-new model may bring,
but this does not mean that the minimalist model that follows the function is the only answer.

POETIC EXPRESSION
For each keyword, I took film photos, wrote poems, and made the mood boards...
I was trying to capture the feeling of the keywords for the printer in different ways.

THE FINAL DIRECTION
The final selected shape well combines the characteristics of the three keywords.
The time machine was presented with the two-side solid faces; we could see the magic wand with the smooth feeling of holding; the flow of the curves showed radial inflorescence.
PROCESS - FORM APPLYING
FIRST ATTEMPT
Did like the bunch of tries of having the curve cover on the top of the printer, but the texture needed to improve.
LEARNING FROM THE MODEL
With the quick model, I noticed that the bottom part should be flatter to fit sitting on the table surface. In this case, I did more iterations to find the solution.
FINAL CONCEPT
THE CONTENT
We are telling a story through the form of the product.
The final product is clean and unique, and the form itself is showing the feeling of Time machine, Magic wand, and Radial inflorescence.
NAMING
The story of naming:
Since this photo printer is designed to allow people to keep precious moments, Communicate with others, and Share experiences and happiness.
I combined “LUNAR” and “MEMORY” to “LUMORY”. In ancient Chinese poetry, people in memory always look to the moon. I hope this product will become the key for users to open their memories.
